Today is a busy day for Carnival Corporation & plc cruise brands when it comes to smoking rules. Joining Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line has announced a change is being made to the shipboard smoking policy on all of its ships effective for sailings departing on or after January 15, 2012. The new smoking policy now designates staterooms as nonsmoking areas in addition to the indoor public areas already defined as nonsmoking.
For those guests who want to smoke, there will continue to be designated areas both inside and on outside decks. In addition, smoking is permitted on stateroom balconies. The current policy already banned cigar and pipe smoking inside the ships.
