Carnival Cruise Line joined Princess today in announcing restrictions on smoking aboard their ships.
In the first phase, effective today public cigarette smoking will be allowed only in Carnival’s dance clubs, designated smoking areas in the casino and on open decks, and in the jazz clubs on (Carnival) Destiny, Triumph, Victory, Spirit, Pride, Legend, Miracle, Conquest, Glory, Valor, Liberty, Freedom and Splendor. Cigar smoking will be permitted in the jazz clubs. On the other 10 ships, cigar and cigarette smoking will be permitted in designated areas on open decks.
Phase two comes into play on December 1, 2011, when smoking will be banned in all guest cabins. Those guests in balcony cabins will be permitted to smoke cigarettes and cigars outside on the balcony. Spa staterooms have always been smoke-free both inside and on their balconies, and that policy will remain.
